NACOLG’s
Senior Aides Program
Does your
business need part-time help but your budget won’t allow it?
The Northwest Alabama Council of Local Governments has a
program that can help. NACOLG’s Department of Senior Services is currently seeking
host agencies for the Senior Aides Program.
The Senior Aides Program assists persons aged 55 and
older in securing part-time jobs in governmental or non-profit
agencies. Senior
Aides can be hired in your agency for receptionist work and
clerical work such as filing and data entry.
Host agencies
should be governmental in nature or maintain an IRS 501C3
non-profit status and provide supervised training for the
worker. Overall,
the Senior Aides Program promotes hiring elderly persons while
providing additional help to a host agency at a very minimal
cost. For a
donation of $750 per year per Aide, your agency contracts for a
part-time employee for a year.
The Senior Aide can work up to 19.75 hours per week and
his salary will be provided by NACOLG. There is a two-year durational limit for any placement but
many Senior Aides are hired to continue their employment
following this period.
For more
information, please call NACOLG’s Senior Aides Program
Coordinator at (256) 389-0537.
